How programming power in our office translates into productivity in your office:
LawStream is a data base application, which uses a powerful professional data base management program called Omnis Studio. Because Omnis is a rapid application development tool, PowerSoft can quickly and effectively make changes to LawStream in response to users' requests. Because Omnis Sudio is a fourth generation language, the changes can be made easily and reliably. The key feature of LawStream from its users' point of view, is its integration of essential law office resources: as beneficial as it might be for us at PowerSoft to save time, the important thing for you to save time in your office. Integration saves you time (and money) in three main ways:
- when you use only one application, you eliminate the extra cost, bother, maintenance and training involved in purchasing, maintaining, learning and using two or more different applications;
- when you enter data in only one application, you eliminate the extra time and risk of incorrect data entry involved in redundant data entry and/or in exporting and importing data between applications;
- when you have all your data in one application, you can more easily coordinate the management efforts in your office, and you can more effectively manage and understand the relationships among those resources
How LawStream can work in your office:
LawStream is a data base application, which uses a powerful professional data base management program called Omnis Studio. Because LawStream is a cross-platform application, it will work on PCs that using Windows operating systems, or on Macintosh computers running OS 9 or OS X. LawStream will even work in offices with a combination of Windows PCs, OS X Macs, and OS 9 Macs. If ever someone in your office decides to change from PCs to Macs (or vice versa), it is easy to install LawStream on the other kind of computer, and there is no charge for changing LawStream from one operating system to another. Some LawStream users work solo in their offices, with one person doing all the data entry and reports. Other LawStream users work in multi-user environments, with shared access to a common data file. LawStream does not need any fancy server hardware (or fancy server software), to work with multiple users in the same office: if your office is already sharing access to word processor documents and similar files, then you likely already have the hardware and network arrangements you need for sharing a LawStream data file in your office.
