Using LawStream Data as a Basis for Word Merge Documents: Word's Data Merge Dialog

The main document named at the top of the "Data Merge Manager" window is the basic document you create in Microsoft Word (in the example at the left, the letter to be sent to a client).

The Data Source part of that window contains a "Get Data" menu that can be used to identify the merge data to be inserted into the main document.

For the purposes of this example, the "Word Field" section is not relevant.

The merge fields (about two-thirds of the way down on the merge window) are the fields Word recognizes from the data file. In the case of our example, those merge fields are the names given to the contact data from LawStream.

The next window in this series shows a particular part of the merge dialog window: the merge menu.
