the magic mix:
merging your LawStream Pro data base information
with your LawStream Pro word processor
documents
You've got the software. If you had LawStream Pro as a productivity tool in your office, you would certainly be able to take advantage of the synergy available from multiple data types, and multiple ways to use those data types. LawStream Pro's magic mix is combination of a powerful (and reliable) data base engine and a feature-rich (but simple to use) word processor. PowerSoft Innovations Corporation has chosen to continue to use Omnis Studio products from Raining Data Corporation, for robust and powerful data base management in its applications. With the release of LawStream Pro, PowerSoft is also very pleased to take advantage of Brainy Data Corporation's OWrite word processor.
You've got your data. LawStream Pro can produce many different reports and display information on screen in many different formats. It's possible that the reports and windows in LawStream Pro could give you all you need, to keep track of your contacts, file/projects, billable time, expenses, things to do, schedule, accounting information, and other essential data in your office. You might find, though, that you need or want different reports, or that you want to create your own letters and similar documents containing information from your data. Perhaps those other reports relate to basic LawStream Pro data, or perhaps they relate to custom data you have entered into your LawStream Pro data base. Whatever your needs for extended reports might be, you might find yourself looking for other ways to display the information you have.
You've got your documents. Perhaps you have a large set of precedents of forms that you regularly use. As nice as those reports are, perhaps you have found that you are getting tired of entering the same data (name, address, contact birth date, balance owing to your business, web site address, accounting details, etc., etc.) every time you want to use one of those precedents/documents. If the size of your business has increased - or if your available time has diminished - to the point where you need to streamline your use of the documents that are important for your business, then you can understand the benefit of finding a better way to "feed" information into those documents.
Now, you've got the synergy of using your data with your documents. LawStream Pro's built-in word processor can handle documents in two main ways:
•
it can export and import word-processor documents in rtf ("rich text") format, to help your other word processor communicate with LawStream Pro's word processor; and
• it can let you save and create word processor documents in its own format, as part of your data file.
Whichever of those two ways of document creation you choose, you can still take advantage of the built-in spell-checker, glossary, and data-replacement available in LawStream Pro.
