the magic mix in action

See what happens in this example, and then
use your imagination to think of what you could do in your own business...

Here is an example of how a lawyer might use LawStream Pro to create a custom receipt for the firm, to be given to clients (note that LawStream Pro can already generate receipts, but this example shows you how documents can be created in LawStream Pro).

NOTE: We've just started to explore the power of LawStream Pro's new word processor. Every time we look at it, we see new ways we can use it, and more ways we can make it a better tool for your business!

At the right is an image of part of a word processing document (in this case, taken from Microsoft Word). That document represents a document that has been used by an office for a while. By now, that business is getting tired of entering the same basic information every time it produces that receipt.

That document has also been saved in rtf ("rich text format"). To access that document, just click on the import pushbutton in LawStream Pro...

... and then select the rtf file you want to import, as shown at the right.

After you have done that, the rtf document from Microsoft Word is now ready to save as a document in your LawStream Pro data base. The image at the right shows how the LawStream Pro word processig window looks after the rtf document has been imported. Note that the LawStream Pro word processor includes rulers and tabs, and note that the toolbar shows various other ways to open, save and change data in the word processing document.

Lawstream Pro's word processing features include most of what you would expect from a word processor, as you can see in the tool-areas shown at the right.

Those tools show you the inherent power of LawStream Pro and its word processor. The added power arises from the integration of those word processing features, with the data fields from a LawStream Pro data base. The last two sections of the tool-area (shown above) expand into the tools shown at the right.

Using those data tools (by selecting individual fields and adding them to the word processor document), and making a few optional formatting changes, we can quickly have a document that looks like the one shown at the right. You can see in that example, that various fields are named (shown on gray on black), and that the built-in spell-checker has spotted two possible spelling errors. By using a context-sensitive drop-down menu, a number of options are shown for the proper spelling of one of those errors. The other error is likely not an error at all, so it will be added to the spell-checker's dictionary as an acceptable word.

Once you are satisfied with the format of your form document (precedent), you can find the data you want in that form, from your data file. From there, it's just a matter of clicking on the "Preview" button to see what the document looks like. In the document at the right, you can see that the payor of the money was not entered into the data base, so it can be added now. It is also possible to make final changes to the document before saving it (e.g., adding a personal note, or perhaps a description of the funds as being uncertified).

Once the document looks the way you want it to look, you can save it or print it (or both). Still more pleasant surprises await you at this stage: you can not only print the document to a printer, but you can also print (save) it as a pdf document.
Your options don't end there! You can even export the document as an html document ready to publish on the web!
