Converting/Importing Data from Other Applications
Because of the wide variety of other applications used by those moving to LawStream, and because of the wide variety of ways those people use those other applications, it is very important that you understand the circumstances relating to possible conversion and importing of data into a new LawStream data base. Please read this information carefully.
Note: the following guidelines on conversion are offered to assist you in exporting your current data, so it will be ready for importing into LawStream. Although the procedures for importing data are available in LawStream, we have found (and you would likely find) that your export files will not match the formats expected by the LawStream import procedures. You will therefore expect to retain PowerSoft Innovations to complete that work for you. Our own time in importing those two types of records has lately been about four to five hours, and we typically charge between $200 and $250 for that work. As you might expect, the actual cost to you will vary, depending on the volume and complexity of your data. As you might also expect, the value of getting all those contacts and files into your LawStream data base is worth much more than that cost.
