I need a variety of features for billing, including different rates for each attorney (by client and task, e.g., trial and non-trial), and trust tracking on the invoice (including automatic reduction of trust fund balances to pay current charges), and ability to handle fixed fee billing for some services (especially when an attorney is entering time). Can LawStream Pro handle all that?

Our answer:

LawStream Pro handles all those features, and many more. Billing rates can be set for a file, for individual attorneys, and for an individual time entry (by a fixed fee or calculation). If that isn't enough, you can actually have an unlimited number of different billing rates for an unlimited number of timekeepers for each file.

Each bill can show a previous balance, the current total amount, and any trust transfer to be applied toward the balance owing. Because LawStream Pro can integrate accounting with timekeeping and billing, trust transfers shown on bills can be integrated with the records maintained in LawStream Pro for bank and file/matter balances.

Fixed fee billing is very easy with LawStream Pro. No matter how you might enter your time, you can produce bills that show fees as fixed amounts, or through a variety of other calculations. You may show all time/service details on the bill if you wish, or you may use a custom "narrative bill" with some pre-defined text.
